Problem: when I click 'start'>programs, then I see all the programs I have
installed. But I have so many that some are 'lost' to the right part of the
screen and I cannot see which ones they are. I am thinking that there is a
way to narrow the columns so that I can view all of them (or even move them
more to the left. I have win xp home. I hope that I dont have to sacrifice
programs and delete some just to make room. THank you for your response

You need to combine them. Example: if you have a test program drag it to the
file system tools under accessories.

Each column will be as wide as the longest name. Rename the longer items
with shorter names. Example: Change "Microsoft Office Professional 2000" to
"MS Office."

You can do the renaming from the start menu, right click on an item and
select Rename.
