In Windows Explorer and desktop, I seem to have lost the Notepad option
when right clicking -> Notepad text file. How can I restore this?

Thank you in advance.

OK, I went to Tweak UI v2.10's Templates and saw Notepad wasn't listed.
I clicked on Create button and picked c:\windows\notepad.exe, but got an
error: "notepad.exe -- This document cannot be used as a document
template."

I don't know what the problem is and I would not fool around trying to fix
it since Notepad is not very functional. Get a freebie such as: Editpad
Lite: http://www.editpadpro.com/editpadlite.html I've used it since W95
days and it serves me well.

Notepad has templates? Could it be MS Word masquerading as a text editor
via a template for such? That is, a *.txt file is opened in MS Word?
Funny thing about how Windows file associations can go awry.

I only use Notepad for simple editings like to do lists. Nothing fancy.

No. When I open *.txt files, Notepad is opened to read them. I just
can't make a new text file.

So you open Notepad, then click File, New.. What happens? Is this
where you get an error about a template? Please post the error message,
or what happens.

In Notepad, File -> New is fine. I want to do it from desktop and
Windows Explorer with its right click and new Notepad file.

And you don't have the "New", "Text Document" option? That's as close
as I can get to Notepad.. After the new icon is created, it still takes
a double-click to open the file.
