My Dell notebook runs on Windows XP. How do I read a word doc written with
Office 2000 Premium which someone emailed to me? I don't want to override or
uninstall my current progs; I just want to read the document. I would
appreciate it if someone could advise me. Thanks.

If your computer has Word/Office 97 or later installed, then you
can open the Word document with the version of Word that you
currently have.

If your computer does not have Word/Office 97 or later installed,
and if the Word document does not contain complex formatting,
then you can probably open it with WordPad (which comes with
Windows XP).

If you do not have any version of Word installed, you can download the Word
viewer from http://office.microsoft.com/download...wd97vwr32.aspx. This
will allow you to read and print (but not edit) Word documents.
