I use Word 2002. I have several long documents, each with several heading
levels, in which I find the Document Map extremely useful (essential).
In one document (call it Doc1) I find that when I alter the list of headings
displayed in the Document Map pane (ie, collapse some heading levels beneath
others), save the document, and then re-open that document in my next
session, the list displayed in the Document Map pane is exactly as it was
when I saved the document in the previous session. Which is what I prefer.
In all other documents I find that when I open the Document Map pane at the
start of a session it always displays all heading levels regardless of the
state of the Document Map pane in the previous session. Which is not what I
prefer.
I am not aware of anything I did to make Doc1 behave differently from the
other documents. But I would prefer them all to behave as does Doc1. How do
I achieve this, please?
