Search the XP Help and Support Center (installed as part of XP) for
"partition disk".
It'll tell you about the Disk Management tool. (Control Panel,
Administrative Tools, Computer Management). You'll need to create one or
more partitions, and then format it. (NTFS is recommended, but use FAT32 if
you need to be able to write to the drive from a DOS-based utility like
Norton Ghost.)
