how do I open a pdf file in outlook

When attaching or receiving a pdf file in outlook it is appearing as a word
document. How do I get it to open as a pdf file.

If you save it to the hard drive and double-click it, how does it open?

Reinstall or repair Adobe Reader (or whatever PDF viewer you are using).
