I have a presentation that I want to play a sound clip continuously while the
show loops several times, but I don't want to music to restart again at the
first slide which is what it is doing regardless how I have tried to set it
up.

You might want to try either...
changing the timings of your slides to accomdate the length of the sound clip
or
change the length of the sound clip.
1- go to: http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ and download the FREE sound editor
2- establish the length of the show
3- trim the length of the music to match your show (you can also do some
fading)
4-reinsert the sound file
