How do I make Search Companion my default search engine?

When I start a search for files using Windows XP it always open the Windows
Desktop Search. Since this almost never finds what I am looking for, and
doesn't allow date ranges, I always end up using the 'Click here to use
Search Companion" link at the bottom.
Is there a way to make all searches default to the Search Companion?

From the site -

Open RegEdit (hit Start > Run then type 'regedit'). Go to the following
node:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows Desktop Search\DS

Then double-click on 'ShowStartSearchBand' and set the value to '0'.

This worked - Thanks so much - even the nuisance of the little dog pales by
comparison to the annoyance of the Desktop Search which never finds
anything, even things you are looking at in an explorer window!
