If you hold down the CTRL key before you click "view slidehow - or the
slideshow button"
then powerpoint will show the screen a quarter size.

Or you could if you are using a newer version of powerpoint choose the
"resolution" of your slideshow... if you lower it, to say 640x480, there's
less pixels to grab...so less data. (slideshow menu > set up show >
slideshow resolution)

Also, on that same menu is an option to "browsed in a window" (which may
work for your needs)

Or you could lower the 'desktop' resolution, on windows, and powerpoint will
follow that same resolution.

As you don't want your powerpoint presentation be viewed in full-
screen, and also you want to video capture your presentation.
Acoolsoft PPT2DVD may help you resolve both of them.
You can convert your ppt presentation to cd/dvd with this tool first,
and then in LAYOUT choice you can choose to play your converted
presentation in the size you like.

More information about this tool:
http://www.ppt-to-video.com

Or you can download a free trial version first from:

Hope it helps~
