How do I make outlook delete e-mails from outbox

I have just installed office 2007. Since then, when I send an e-mail -
1. The e-mail is actually sent.
2. It is also kept in the "sent items" just as I requested.
3. The problem: it is also saved in the outbox and marked as "unread", no
matter how many times I press the "send" button.

If I open the e-mail from the outbox, and push the "send" button in the
e-mail then it is sent again and being deleted from the outbox.

If I cancel the "save outgoing e-mail in sent items" feature then there is
no probelm (e-mail is sent and deleted from the outbox, but not kept in the
sent items).

Sometimes, when I reply an email then there is no problem - the reply is
sent and not kept in the outbox.

My workaround for now is to delete the outbox manually from time to time. I
have no problem sending e-mail and I also get the copies in the sent items,
but - it is not convinient...
