Hi

When I mark a task in the To-do list as 'complete' I thought it should grey
out but remain visible. It seems to be deleting as though I'd chosen Delete
instead as 'Mark Complete'. Is there an error in my Outlook?

No, the To-Do Bar shows your active things to-do. It doesn't delete
anything. It's a bit like the Reminder Window where you can Dismiss your
meeting alerts. It is not your Task List. Go to your Task List to see all
your Tasks; both non-completed and completed.

Thanks for pointing that out! I've only had 2007 installed for a couple of
weeks and didn't spot the difference.

Can I sneak in another question?

Outlook takes an eon to open and close. Maybe upward of 1 to 2 minute. I've
posted for help a couple of times but nobody seems to have any idea why it
does this.

I do the usual things like defrag and scan, clean out temporary files and
I've increased my RAM and virtual memory but the problem with Outlook
persists. It behaved the same way with Outlook 2003. Could it be that I have
almost 1'000 contacts listed? Or that the pst folder is the old style and not
the limitless data file? Any suggestions you have would be appreciated.

There are some performance issues with Outlook 2007 and a lot of them can be
resolved by some manual resets. If Outlook 2003 behaved the same I suspect
it might be because of some add-ins that you have installed and/or virus
scanner integration. Disable them and see if that speed things up a bit.

I would recommend recreating your mail profile after an upgrade;
See http://www.howto-outlook.com/faq/newprofile.htm

This might also be a good time to start with the new pst-format. Instead of
settings your old pst-file as the default just link it with Outlook via
File-> Open-> Outlook Data File... and once opened move the items from the
"old" file to the newly created one.

In addition to that reset the outcmd.dat and extend.dat file by renaming
them to .old

You should notice a speed increase now. A 1-2 minute loading process is too
long for a healthy machine ;-)

Hi Roady

Just disabled the Microsoft Exchange Unified Messaging Add-in and a VBA
Add-in that I didn't know were there and Outlook is opening swiftly for the
first time in a couple of years! Thanks for the suggestion, and for the link.
