There are some performance issues with Outlook 2007 and a lot of them can be
resolved by some manual resets. If Outlook 2003 behaved the same I suspect
it might be because of some add-ins that you have installed and/or virus
scanner integration. Disable them and see if that speed things up a bit.
I would recommend recreating your mail profile after an upgrade;

This might also be a good time to start with the new pst-format. Instead of
settings your old pst-file as the default just link it with Outlook via
File-> Open-> Outlook Data File... and once opened move the items from the
"old" file to the newly created one.
In addition to that reset the outcmd.dat and extend.dat file by renaming
them to .old
You should notice a speed increase now. A 1-2 minute loading process is too
long for a healthy machine ;-)
