I am trying to import my Yahoo! email account to my Outlook program, and it's
downloading ALL the emails I've been sent for the past 8 years. Can I limit
how many email messages I receive on my computer?

Post all replies to the group to keep the discussion intact. All
unsolicited mail sent to my personal account will be deleted without
reading.

After furious head scratching, Emma Lang asked:

So use Yahoo's webmail interface to create folders into which you move
your mails. You shouldn't be saving all your mails in the Inbox,
anyway. Once you moved them all out into another folder (and one that
Outlook can't reach since it only gets the data items in the mailbox,
aka Inbox) then move back into the Inbox how many you want to retrieve
at a time.

If you create a new folder and move the mail you do not want downloaded into
the new folder, it will do what you want. Of course you can never move it
back into the inbox again.

Yes. Use the Yahoo web interface to create one or more new mail folders and
move the messages you don't want downloaded to those folders. If the
messages aren't in the Inbox on the server, they won't download.
