Do LDAP servers still exist? How set up?

Am using OutlookXP2002 on WinXP-pro PC.

First, wondered if LDAP servers are still used much or gone out of the
mainstream. Are the big ones still... ldap.bigfoot.com, infospace.com,
switchboard.com, whowhere.com. Are these still the mainstream, most useful,
reliable, just used to find email addresses?

Second, my OutlookXP(2002) has problems setting these up, wondered what the
several correct steps are to keying each one in. Is this it.
Tools>EmailAccts>DirectoryView>AddLDAP>______________. Once in Outlook, how
access it.

Thanks,

George
