How do I know I have an email, or can I set it to alert me?

Depending on your Outlook version, which you decided to keep secret, you can
click Tools>Options>E-mail Options>Advanced E-mail Options and check the box
labeled "Display a New Mail Desktop Alert" and/or "Show an envelope icon in
the notification area".
