The graphic in my signature appears as an attachment when I send an email and
when I get a reponse back from the message recipient. How do I prevent this?
Thanks,
Carla

Don't use graphics in the signature. That only works if people receive
as RTF, many people don't.

Perhaps I didn't communicate well. The graphic is a .jpg logo that is
embedded in the signature as described in the Outlook instructions. I would
like to keep it from appearing as an attachment.
Thanks,
Carla

Is the message format HTML? (Contrary to Bob's belief, images can be
embedded in HTML as well as RTF).
Are you scanning outgoing mail with a virus scanner?
Is it an attachment as soon as you open the new message form?

Note that its not unusual for embedded images to appear as attachments until
the message is viewed and the image rendered within the message.

Hi Diane,

The format is HTML using Word 2003 as editor. The attachment does not appear
during message composition. However, it does appear when the recipient
receives it and when I receive a response from the recipient. I tested this
by sending an email from myself here at work to my personal email address
(Yahoo).

Your question about virus scanning leads me to believe this may not always
happen. It may depend on each recipient's security settings and virus
software. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks again,
Carla

Hi Carla,

You can use an add-in for Outlook called Bells&Whistles where you can
create a signature and then automatically insert it when replying to
emails, insert greetings and many other interesting features.
You can find it at www.emailaddressmanager.com

Regards,
Andrei

Sorry, I hate HTML.

I have a different perspective on this. My company has recently required
everyone to use the logo in their signature. Now all the email I get from
colleagues shows as having an attachment in the list pane (shows the
attachment paperclip icon). Now I can't distinguish when an email really has
an attachment or not because most show as having one because of the logo. Is
there any way to correct this on the receiving end? Outlook 2007 connected
to company exchange server.

BTW, I did some experimenting and if I send via HTML format rather than RTF,
it doesn't show as an attachment, but I can't force the entire company to
switch to HTML.

Carla,

Just ran into this issue here at work when everyone was forced to start
using a company logo in their signature. Now everyone's email comes with an
"attachment". Did some experimenting. When I sent as RTF, this attachment
problem happens. When I send as HTML, it doesn't. I set the "Internet"
format to text instead of RTF now also so when I send outside the company
that problem goes away (but so does the nice signature). I didn't see an
option for HTML for internet-directed mail. I have Outlook 2007 connected to
company exchange server.
