Every time I do something with my contacts in outlook, they expand. I would
like them to stay collapsed.

Outlook version? What do you mean "expand?" What does "collapsed" mean?
We are not looking over your shoulder so we don't know what view you are
using of your contacts nor what collapsed or expanded looks like. The more
descriptive you are, the better we are at interpreting what you mean and
providing a solution.
