I need to know what I need to have in order to join 12 XP
pro computers to a domain. & How do I setup a local
domain?

For starters, you'll need a domain controller. It has to be running a
server SKU of Windows (can't be XP).

To create a domain, you would need to start with a server
operating system, such as WinNT Server, Win2K Server, or Windows
Server 2003. WinXP Pro, however, is an excellent choice for a client
OS to use on the domain's workstations.
