Hi,

I tried to install terminal server in application mode and got this message:

Caution: enabling application server may cause the following programs to
function improperly or be removed

and then it lists 5 or 6 applications, one of which is IE 6 SP1. Why does
this happen, what is the solution to this problem?

This is a normal behaviour when you enable TS in Application
Server mode after any applications have been installed on the
server.

Switching to Application Mode changes the entire way the Terminal
Server works.
When you are running in Remote Administration mode, application
installations happen as they do on any Windows PC, and even 2
admins connected simultaneously won't be able to run some
applications correctly. In Application Server mode, the server re-
tunes itself to function as an application server. It also sets up
a special application install process to make applications install
so that multiple users can work with them simultaneously.

You will want to uninstall any user-mode applications such as
Office, Acrobat Reader, Visio, and so on while still in Remote
Administration mode, then reinstall after the switch to
Application Server mode. If you don't, most of them will not work,
and even worse, you may produce some very bizarre behavior on the
server which cannot be eliminated without completely reinstalling
the server. The best way to start out with a Terminal Server for
application use is to do clean reinstalls of the applications.
