How do I install the PST backup tool if it is already installed

Hi, we have 2 users on this computer. I installed the MS Outlook 2003 pst
backup tool for user #1 and it works fine. Now I want to install for myself,
user #2, and it is telling me I have to uninstall the already installed
backup tool which resides on the computer before I can install it in my
environment. Well, if I did that, yep, you guessed it, it uninstalls it for
user #1 and then user #1 has no back up of Outlook pst files and we are back
to square one. ANY suggestions? I really need to back up my Outlook (user
#2). Already lost data in the past because I was not backing up. Thank you
kindly.

Reinstall the backup tool
On the user its not working on, open Outlook, check the addins, tick the box
for the backup addin, restart outlook.
Is the menu option now available?

Hi DL, thank you, but the steps you suggested sadly did not solve the
problem. Still cannot find the pst backup tool under COM addins in Outlook.
It is not in the list in my environment. Any other suggestions?

In the user in which the addin is not shown;
Open Explorer, navigate to \Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office11
........in that set of folders is outbak.dll shown?
(I dont recall the actual folder that is used in Office 2003, maybe Addins)
If it is Start Outlook, in com addins, Add..... navigate to that Folder/File
and select the dll

DL, ur the best! Found the file, installed it, and it is working. Have just
one additional question now... I have PERSONAL FOLDERS, HOTMAIL ACCT #1, and
HOTMAIL ACCT #2. The backup is only showing PERSONAL FOLDERS and thus, is
ONLY backing that up and not the two Hotmail accounts that I use. Personal
Folders is empty. Any wise words on this? Thanks a bundle!

Presumably the Hotmail accounts are visible in the Outlook Folder Tree View;
If you go to file>backup....that should open a backup window, with an
Options Btn, selecting options allows you to select whch folders to backup.
If the hotmail accounts folders are not visible that would be as a result of
the type of account hotmail uses. As I only use hotmail web access, I
couldnt say whether say whether the protocol used for the account is
available for the Backup tool
But in any case since Hotmail is a web based service, your origonal mail is
stored / acessed by logging on via the web interface

Thank you, DL. Yes, you are right about the web access. You are not able to
back-up. It is never visible in the backup window. One more FYI... when I
activated the backup tool in my environment, user 1 (remember it was working
under user 2?)... well, it is not no longer available in user 1. So, sadly,
the problem persists and it looks like Microsoft is only allowing ONE user to
use the backup addin tool PER computer. Unless you have any other insights?
Thanks again.
