Hi - I have unzipped the files, but don't know how to install. Can anyone
help?

Microsoft don't send out hot fixes. Except through Windows Update - or in
very rare cases when you have contacted Microsoft support and they recommend
a specific fix that hasn't been tested enough to make it into a service pack
yet.

From what you describe it sounds malicious.

Is there an *exe in the files? Something like "setup.exe".

Which hotfix? Can you post a link to the KB article that describes this
hotfix.

Microsoft does not email hotfixes but they send you links to them, they are
in password protected zip files but you only get them, like Paul said after
you contact them thru support.

Correction to my last post. MS does now send Hotfixes thru email but only
after being requested.

In the same way as you normally install any other viruses. Viruses are
normally sent as zip files and these are from Microvirus suppliers.

MS will send you an email to a direct download exe that will be password
protected. Inside that file should be an exe that you simply double click on
to install it.

Hi - it was one I requested from MS.

I finally got further instructions from MS and they say to unistall SP3,
install the hotfix and reinstall SP3.

This looks really complicated and I ma concerned about doing so.
