I have been using office 2003 for personal email. I now want to use this
system for work only and receive personal emails on another system.

The system I will now be getting my personal emails on has Office XP Outlook
which will not readily import a .pst file from Office 2003. How do I import
the .pst or atleast get the inbox , sent email and attachments from the
personal and archive folders From Oulook 2003 into Office XP Outlook. So far
my only option seems to be to import the .pst file into Mozilla Thunderbird
or one of the other free alternatives and access them that way. I would
prefer to stick with Office XP Outlook for convenience but the other options
didn't seem to be bad.

Any advice you could offer would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your time.

Read posts before you post. Importing is never the correct way to transfer
Outlook data. In Outlook 2003, create PST file that is compatible with
earlier versions. Copy your data into that file. Open that file in Outlook
2002. Do not touch export or import. Ever.

Perhaps I asked the question incorrectly. How do I create a file that is
compatible with Office XP? I did scim through the posts and I didn't see
anything that answered the question. I do realise that I am human and might
have missed it. If you can direct me to the thread that explains this please
post it.

Thanks again for your time.

File>New>Outlook Data File. Select "Outlook 97-2002 Personal Folders File"

In addition to Brian's directions, do not use Export or Import, use
drag-and-drop to copy items or folders from the new (2003) file to the
old (2002) one.

Thanks everyone. That did it. I have all of my emails in Office XP.

I transfered my contacts selecting all of the entries at once and right
clicking (selected "forward items"). A new email window poped up. I simply
emailed all of them at once as vcards from one account to another. I opened
them up on he system I wanted them on and saved them one by one.

Thanks again for everyones time.

What a tedious process. The PST contains all you need. Had you simply
copied all your folders to the new PST and transferred that PST you would
have moved all your data; contacts, mail, calendar, all of it.
