I guess the question says it all? I don't want to lose quality,

14 GB for an hour? My DVD-R's are only 4.7 GB and they encompass 2-3
hours. Please explain?

the DV-AVI file doesn't go on a DVD.... your DVD software will transcode it
to an MPEG-2 file that will fit.

If you want to burn your photo to dvd, Photo DVD Slideshow is a good
choice.
Download and have a free trial.
