Do IE hotifixes/patches affect Avant Browser?

Although Avant Browser runs it's own IEXPLORE.EXE, it says that it uses IE's core engine. If so, does this mean that hotfixes/patches applied to IE are automatically inherited by Avant Browser?

Yes, as far as I can tell. I could (easily) be wrong.
Avant, which I use, is primarily just IE with a different skin and a bunch
more tools.
