My external modem for Internet use does not show any lights blinking except
for the orange light at the bottom. I can no longer send documents I have
filled out on a website. Please walk me through how the external modem
should be connected.
Thanks,
Joan

Cable modem. And I think I've solved the problem. I checked the lines
between the modem and the PC and the telephone jack was not hooked up.
Apparently, it came unplugged sometime when I was turning the PC around to
look at the back.
Thanks for your interest.

There should be step-by-step instructions that came with your modem.
Typically, you install the software then plug in the modem when told
to do so. At that time the software will go through a series of tests
to verify the modem is working properly. You should then see your
modem in "Phone and modem" in the Control Panel. It is important to
install the software before installing the hardware, especially if the
modem uses USB.
