How do I higlight text on received e-mails in Outlook?

Would like to use in same manner as highlighting in Microsoft Word.

And what happens when you *do* try to highlight some text in an e-mail? Is
it a plain-text e-mail or an HTML-formatted e-mail? With HTML-formatted
e-mails, you can't be sure of just what you are highlighting (i.e., what
HTML tags might get included).
