Do I have SP1 or SP2? (Different Opinions)

Every test I can make locally (checking "system", type "winver" at
command prompt, etc.) tells me I have Sp1. But the MS site tells me
I have SP2. Has anybody ever seen this, why does it happen, and
how can it be resolved? If I do have SP1, MS won't let me download
SP2!
Many thanks for help!
Frank

See if any resolutions listed here apply:

Windows XP Service Pack 2 is not available to install from Windows
Update and is not offered by Automatic Updates
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/885627

Which 'MS site' states that SP2 is already installed ?

How to tell if SP2 is installed.

Start | Run | Type: winver | Click OK
If it says Service Pack 1, you have SP1.
If it says Service Pack 2, you have SP2.
If no Service Pack is listed, then none are installed.

Windows Security Center (wscui.cpl) will exist with SP2.
Start | Run | Type: wscui.cpl | Click OK |
Windows Security Center will open if SP2, you'll get an error if not SP2.

Windows XP Service Pack 2 will be listed in Add or Remove Programs, unless
XP was installed with SP2.

$NtServicePackUninstall$ will be in %windir% or C:\WINDOWS (There may be one
of these folders that relates to SP1). $NtServicePackUninstall$ will not
exist if XP was installed with SP2.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion

Value Name: CSDVersion
Data Type: REG_SZ
Value Data: Service Pack #

Service Pack # will be Service Pack 2 if SP2 is installed. Service Pack 1
for SP1. I do not know what you have if no Service Pack is installed.

If you can scan for and install updates via Windows Update or Automatic
Updates, SP2 is installed.

When I tried to download WMP 11, I couldn't install it because
it says I don't have SP2. Could somebody please give me an idea
of why this is happening and is there some way to download SP2
when MS tells me I already have it?
