I do medical transcription and every character counts. I cannot get
microsoft office 2003 to count my headers and footers. Please help!!!!

You don't, Word won't count anything in the header: header and footer
contents usually repeat on all pages, and thus counting it would not
make much sense gereally.

You could try to use VBA to count characters in headers and footers; the
..vba gropus would be best to target something like this.
