How do I get .wma music files to play on my presentation???

Hi people, please help!!!
I am running XP home. Have made the slide show, am trying
to put some music over the top of it all but it won't let
me use any of my MP3's or any music I have copied off CD.
Have tried INSERT - MOVIE AND SOUNDS - SOUND FROM FILE -
and changed file type to ALL FILES. ALL i get is "POWER
POINT COULDN'T INSERT A SOUND FROM THE SELECTED FILE".

How do I use my music?????!!!!!!
