Actually you can still create a desktop shortcut and drag that shortcut to
Outlook's shortcuts pane.
But schunter was asking about something different -- the Favorite Folders
list at the top of the Mail navigation pane. It can't be removed. Instead of
that navigation pane, schunter might prefer to use the Folder List pane,
which shows everything.
