Just upgraded and all I can see are these tiny thumbnails, which don't do
much good. How can I see themes larger (including bullet points and font
styles??)

best way is to just set up a dummy/test web (locally)...then play around
with it...delete it if you don't like it.

Select the theme and it will apply it to your page,
or in the dropdown (next to the thumbnail) select Customize to see the same views you had in previous versions
