I have a file that is in Korean and when i open it in word all i am getting
is boxes. I know the file is not corrupt because it's been opened on other
machines. Word is detecting it as Korean but not displaying it as such.

Do you have the appropriate Korean fonts installed on your system?

Rerun setup (Control Panel | Add/Remove Programs | Change | Add or Remove
Components) and check any font options that aren't set to "Run from my
computer." The font you need is Batang, I think, and it should be included
in the "extra" fonts.
