I know about shift + enter, but I want to switch the default setting for the
enter key in Word 2007 so it gives me the single line breaks when I press
retrun/enter instead of these (retarded) double line breaks.
Can anyone tell me how to do this? Thanks a million!

Oh, just in case anyone from Microsoft reads this: Word 2007 looks great
until you actually try to find something, which makes it a total nightmare.
In my humble opinion, you went a bit overboard in making the changes to the
new version of Word "noticeable" because now I can't find anything anymore.
Oh and this double line break by default when you press enter is completely
daft.
Thank you.

It's not exactly a double line break, what you are seeing is a combination
of space added after each paragraph and line spacing. Ideally, space should
be used before/after paragraphs instead of using empty paragraph marks as an
attempt to control spacing. I personally use formatted space since it offers
more control over spacing, pagination, etc, but YMMV.

To modify the defaults, on the Home tab, in the Paragraph group, click the
dialog box launcher to display the Paragraph dialog box. Make your desired
changes in the Spacing section and then click the Default button.
