I have Outlook 2002 on XP Home Premium. My messages are not being saved in
the sent messages folder even though I have checked that in
Outlook>Tools>Options>E-Mail Options. Any other possible hangups?

It's an IMAP account.

Outlook 2002 will only save Sent messages in the local PST file. Outlook
2007 supports saving in the IMAP sent items folder.

A rule can be used to copy the outgoing messages to a folder on the IMAP
server.

Brian:

I am afraid that this does not work so well. First if I select the sent
items folder for saving sent items on the IMAP account, it saves them in the
sent items default folder on my pop-mail default account in the personal
folders. If I then try to move the sent item manually into a folder on the
IMAP account, I get an IMAP server error.

If I select a folder other than sent items to save my sent mail on the IMAP
account, then it doesn't work at all.

How about some help on this stuff. How do you set up an IMAP account to save
sent items to a specified folder on the IMAP account.

Post the exact text of the rule.

Talk to whomever manages your IMAP server about this.
