ATI OVERDRIVE Temperature Ranges for RADEON 9600 XT and RADEON 9800 XT



The ATI OVERDRIVE control panel lets users safely maximize the
performance level of their graphics processor. ATI OVERDRIVE
intelligently determines the optimal speed of the graphics processor
by constantly monitoring the temperature of the graphics processor,
ensuring that it always stays at a safe level.

The graphics processor frequency levels are stated below:

RADEON 9600 XT
527 MHz 0°C-47°C
513 MHz 44°C-67°C
500 MHz 64°C-127°C

RADEON 9800 XT
419 MHz 0°C- 59°C
412 MHz 56°C - 127°C

I just installed Catalyst 6.3 and read somewhere about ATI Overdrive, but I
cannot find it on my Control Center. I have a AIW X800. The help file says
it is located on the tree view, but mine does not have that choice. Is it
because I have the AIW?

Overdrive has been around since the Radeon 9x00 days. AFAIK it is only
available for the -XT cards like the 9600XT, 9800XT, X800XT, etc.

I don't see why you'd want it, though. Overdrive is an automatic
overclocking feature, but it is very conservative. You'll get better results
by overclocking manually using an utility like ATiTool.

OK, I setup ATI Tray Tools on my computer and it is really a good program.
Can I now somehow diable the Control Center? Will I lose anything by doing
that (that ATI TT will not do)?

I was actually referring to ATiTool, which is a different beast. However,
ATi Tray Tools will do. :-)

Disable something called "CLI.exe"

It's either in MSConfig or Services.msc , don't remember which. You can
access both by typing their names in Start -> Run.

For next time, if you were installing Catalyst drivers, simply select
"custom installation" and uncheck Catalyst Control Center.

ATT doesn't fully support X1900 cards yet, last time I checked. So if you
sunk $1200 into a Crossfire setup, you need CCC to enable it...
