I got a message from MS saying that I had problems with my HD. Used
properties/tools and had it do a through chkdsk on reboot. Went to bed
as this takes quite some time. Got up and Windows is running but I
have no Idea if any bad spot were found, where is this VERY important
info, what less than intelligent thing did MS do this time to make
this hard to find. Scandisk used to make this easy to find. This is an
XP home system

Thanks

Before you pass judgment on MS and their "less than
intelligent thing", have a look in the Event Viewer (eventvwr.exe)
where just about all system and error messages are collected.
Scandisk never ran in the background, hence it could report
in the foreground. Chkdsk cannot do this.

CHKDSK results are reported in the "application" section of Event Viewer as
a Winlogon event. ( start. run eventvwr.msc )
