I recently reinstalled vista after backing up my files. I appear to have
lost all my email from outlook as I also had to reinstall my office software.
Is there any way of retrieving all my old mail or is it lost to cyberspace?

Just restore your PST file(s) from the backup, then open it with
Outlook, and all should be back where it was.
