where do I find my mail?

My computer crashed as a result of a power outage (surge
suppressor didn't work) -- windows 2000 installation
can't be recovered. I've hooked my hard drive up to an
XP machine to save as much as possible. Is there any way
to save my mail/contacts from my profile? I do not have
a .pst file made. I plan to try to load Win2K over the
top of the present one, but before I do that, where does
Win2k/Outlook 2000 keep the pop3 mailbox if you do not
have a .pst folder? Can I use that file to replace a new
installation and still have my old mail and contacts?
