i receive dozens of emails that are no use to me because they are all in a
foreign language - how can I filter them out?

If you're using OL2003 or higher, check the Junk E-mail settings. There are
settings for filtering out different encodings & countries.

Version of outlook?

Tools, options, junk mail - last tab for international settings, encoding
button. I check off everything except ascii, western european, and the iso
entries.
