I've purchased a new HD and I have my original drive and new drive connected
to my PC. The new drive has not been prepared in any way.

I installed Norton Ghost to copy my old HD to my new HD. But Ghost doesn't
detect my new HD because it hasn't been partitioned.

How do you partition a drive using XP?

Cheers.

Bobby

You do not need to partition the new hard drive to use Ghost. Ghost is
supposed to create partitions, when needed.

Also, make sure that the version of Ghost supports XP partition. Ghost PE
2002 and Ghost 7.5 was the start where it understands XP partitions.

Y.

You Don't Need to Paratition the disk but to mount it in
windows, you can do that from:
Control Panel=>Administrative Tools=>Computer Management
and under Storage=>Disk Management
Then work the magic of ghost.

Ghost cannot find the new hard drive until you do what the guy in the next
post states.

Cheers. I finished up using Partition Magic and then Ghost. Both worked
perfectly. I'm now running on my new HD. The whol process (inclduing jumper
changes) took 20 minutes.
