The phone company assigns phone numbers.

Many users don't realize that faxing is a function that can only use analog
phone lines and analog fax modems. Accordingly, no fax software will
function with cable modems or DSL lines. With some DSL connections you can
obtain a DSL line filter suitable for connecting a standard analog voice
line to the DSL line and can then connect an analog fax modem to that line.

Forget faxing. First you need to fix your keyboard - your shift and
punctuation keys appear to be broken or missing.

The IP addresses in the message source appear to be in the Ontario/Quebec
region of Canada.. so language would be English, Quebecois French,
Algonquian or Iroquoian..

The subject verb object structure suggests that the OP is reasonably
accomplished in English..

Oh well, Miss Prick is being very nice in this newsgroup. I suppose she
thinks she's still MVP material. Now she exercises her full vulgar talents
in 24hoursupport.helpdesk. An example of a recent post:

"Did you actually read what I wrote, ****wit?! No, you did not. For a
perfect
defintion of a "****ing boneheaded chop****" (whatever the **** that means)
I suggest you avail yourself of the nearest mirror."

Just an example of the open sewer she has for a mind. Did you notice she
misspelled "definition." Not unexpected for someone with a tenuous grasp of
the English language.

The printer would have nothing to do with this.
You would plug the fax modem on your PC into the analog phone line.

I was replying to the comment made by Rancy, and was not giving you an
English lesson.. should I continue?..

If you want to fax from your computer with only a DSL connection, go to
www.efax.com ..

If you want to fax using an analogue connection, use an analogue modem..

How does computer fax work?.. the same way as a dedicated fax machine.. it
dials out to send and is dialled in to receive.. do you need a special
number?.. no.. how will somebody wishing to send you a fax know what number
to use?.. hopefully, you will give them the number of the line to which the
fax is connected.. if that is your home phone line, then that is the number
you provide..

Simple, eh
