i want to backup my website to my local computer before i start mucking with
the website which another person from my church created. the church uses
domaindirect.com as the website provider. my church website is
betheluccwat.org. i have my username and password.

i've tried ftp'ing but get error 425 aftre a long wait.

the limited info i have from domaindirect.com references
ftp.hosting.domaindirect.com. how do i use ftp on my local computer with FP
given the above info?

alternatively, i also have a comment that references
http://pages.hosting.domaindirect.com/domain.tld which also does not work for
me. i am not sure if i am to supply my username for *domain* and do not know
what *tld* stands for and if i am to append those letters to my domain name.

thanks in advance!

ron

Hi,
If you open FP go File - Open Site and enter
http://pages.hosting.domaindirect.com/betheluccwat.org

You'll be prompted for username/password. Hopefully you'll get in fron
there. Domain is your domain name, tld means top level domain .com, .net or
in your case .org

yes it has FP extensions.

www.betheluccwat.org is our website and is managed by the web server of
domaindirect.com.

i did as you suggested but i don't get the usedrname/pw. i get file not
available, perhaps a password is required or there is a \ or / in the
filename.

please try what you suggested and see what happens.

Try it this way...

With IE, browse to http://www.betheluccwat.org/ now at the top of your IE
browser you should see a button with the FP logo or Edit With FrontPage,
click on that and see if you get prompted for un/pw. If you do, try entering
it there. This is not the way you will normally open the website, but it
will let you know if the un/pw & the FP extensions will let yo in.

Let us know.

hth.

Open FrontPage.
Click file > Open Web ( Open Site in FP 2003 )
For the web site address enter: http://www.betheluccwat.org
when prompted enter the user name and password.
When the site opens, click File > Publish Web and point FrontPage to a location on your

i get: "the folder http://www.bethelucc.org is not available", the folder may
be located in an unavailable location; may be password protected, may contain
a \ or / in the filename.

i also tried the above using https and got the same result. have you tried
your suggestion with my site?

hmmm. if i do as you suggest and use *open site*, i get the response as per
my note to *crash* just above your response, ie. file not available, location
not accessible, may be password protected, may have a \ or / in filename.

then i tried, *open* w/o *site* and my website opened in fp with wysiwyg and
the code displayed. no un/pw was requested. then however, there is no way
to download to do my backup of the site. there is no non-greyed *publish to
site*.

as the minister, believe me there is no way i want to start mucking with the
ws that one of my parishioners built before i back up the ws! :-)
