My ISP has moved from POP to IMAP server. This has now created a new set of
folders outside of my Personal Folders in Outlook 2007. New messages are
effectively hidden bacause they no longer go to my Inbox. I wish to download
all e-mails to my PC and do not like the IMAP system. Can I change the way my
ISP handles e-mails?

How do you mean "effectively hidden"? AFAIK if you set the IMAP folders to
be your default delivery location the New Mail Notification will work......

Hi Gordon, what I mean by being hidden is that the IMAP root is below all the
other personal folders and is not expanded when Outlook starts. This means my
PC shows a new e-mail has arrived with the small envelope icon near to the
clock, but nothing else until the IMAP root is expanded and shows the inbox.

I am currently trying to create a rule to automatically transfer e-mails
from the IMAP root to my local inbox.

I'm sure some people like their e-mails on the server, but I cannot see the
need.

Unusually, I have just "repaired" my e-mail account and my ISP has gone back
to POP3. Maybe they were testing something, but whatever it was, I do not
like this IMAP thing.

I believe that is by design. Clicking the + to expand is not a tedious act.
In short, IMAP is probably not what you want. If your ISP/email provider
allows then you might consider configuring your Outlook account to work with
POP3 instead of IMAP. IMAP, and the locations of the folders and the way
they are layed out, is done like that for a reason - it represents exactly
how IMAP works.
