There are obviously some problems deep within my registry as certain
function aren't performing correctly. Examples already mentioned on this
board.. the Start-run-cmd screen appears at every reboot, albeit briefly.
My McAfee viruscan will not enable for more than 1 minute stating
"activeshield components are missing"..tried re-installing several times.
"Shared documents" has suddenly appeared as "Documents" (containg the shared
documents). Is there a simpler way of sorting this out? System restore is
enabled but I wouldn't know which point to go to as they've all had their
own share of problems.
Is there a good registry repair engine out there that I could safely use?
Registry Mechanic has not fixed the problems.

Hi

Try running these programs to see what - if any - spyware there is on your
system:

Ad-Aware - www.lavasoftusa.com
Spybot - http://www.safer-networking.org/
CWShredder - http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/downloads.html

Also see the following link:

If you still want to try a 'Repair' install, the following article by MVP
Michael Stevens will help you:

Thanks, I did a repair install and everything is seemingly fixed now
(keeping fingers, toes and eyes crossed LOL), except I still get that quick
black screen flashing when I reboot.
