Was this .PST file created with Outlook 2007, or is it from a prior version?
If this is an Outlook 97-2002 ANSI format file, it has a hard size limit of
1.6 Gb and will produce error messages like you're seeing when it is full.
An Outlook 2003-2007 Unicode .PST file has a much larger size limit, about
20 Gb.
