When I click on the "To" when sending an e-mail, a list of previously-sent
e-mail names comes up, called "Select Names." Some of these are incorrect,
old, etc.--and I don't want them to show any more (a big nuisance)--how do I
delete names from this list??

Use your arrow keys to select the name and then press Delete on your
keyboard.

I don't mean when I start typing in names--I mean when I actually click on
the word "TO" and the "select names" list appears. It does not work to
highlight them and click delete--nothing happens. (I know that this does
work if you start typing in, in the name to box, say "s" for "sydney"--and
then want to delete the name that appears--but not for the Select Names list.)

I posted this just now--but in case you, Roady, don't see it: I know that
this works if you start typing a name into the "address" box, say "S" and
"smithjane..." comes up. But this does NOT work when you click on the actual
word "TO" and THAT list of names comes up--I've tried highlighting a name and
deleting it, but nothing happens. Thanks for any further help you can give!

The list that shows up is not a list of previously sent email names. The list
you are looking at is a list of names in one of your address books. If you
want to delete a name, right click and click delete. This will delete the
email address from your contacts list or whatever list you have setup.

The list you are referring to is not a list of previously sent email names.
It is a list of names in one of your address books such as Contacts, etc. To
delete it, right click and click delete.

You are looking at your Address List then; most likely your Contacts folder.
Remove them from there or use a right click and choose Delete.
