Hello...

I am running XP and Norton 2004 AV and I have a virus.
(first step is admitting you have a problem)

I just recently bought Norton AV (cause I had this problem)

Upon installing norton the pre-scan found 43 infected files...
It repaired and deleted 41 of them. It tells me 2 files remain...
It shows me the file name and location but doesnt delete them...

One is in the windows\temp\ directory and I can't remember where the other
is.
The machine is running SLOW.. takes forever to do anything....

If you have any advice could you PLEASE also send it to
(E-Mail Removed) I am having serious computer problems
so have resorted to the library and webmail to get by..

Thanks a bunch
Chet

You might be able to delete the files in safe mode. Also, you might
try removing the readonly, hidden and system attributes on the files
before deleting them.

But first, make sure your firewall is in place and working. Enable it if
you haven't already:
http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;283673

Then make sure you get the names of the malware files (not just the
filenames, but the malware names that norton gives you). Google on the
malware names to find out how these things entrench themselves into your
system.

Try to look at the last month of messages in this conference, because you
may find your answer already posted.

The programs you can get at these sites may also help you remove the
malware:

http://vil.nai.com/vil/stinger/
http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/

Spybot S&D and Adaware need to be updated before they are used.

good luck

Undeletable files can usually be renamed, then when you reboot they wont be
in use.

You will probably have to 'disable' the restore feature in XP to delete
those files.
When your done, re-enable it.
