How do I delete from full Outlook box- shift+delete won't work

I use Outlook 2003; got message 'box full,etc... use shift delete to remove
unwanted items'. This doesn't work, nor does regular delete, so I can't move
or delete anything, and box remains full. Help please.

Do you mean nothing gets deleted within Outlook?
What type of account. pop, imap. exchange or?
