How do I delete files that are Read-Only using a *.bat routine?

I have files on clents machines that need to be deleted so that they can be
autogenerated by the program that uses them. How do I go about doing this
with the help of a batch routine. I have my routine written but it does not
work because the files are in a read-only state.
