How do I delete attachments whilst saving the message

Microsoft Office 2007
I often receive large attachments that need saving through the normal Office
filing system but not in Outlook. However, I would separately like to keep
the email within Outlook. My Outlook file is enormous.
Can I delete attachments in Outlook without deleting the email?

Right-click on the attachment and choose "remove".
There are third-party applications that will allow you to save an attachment
and keep a link to the saved location in the body of the email.
One such is Mapilab:
