Thanks to K. Orland for the response, but her solution does not work.
I am using Outlook 2003 SP2.

I do the following:
Click "new message" and the untitled message screen appears. I then
type in the first letter of the name I am looking for and than select
(highlight) the address and it appears in the "To" line for the untitled
message.

If I highlight the name here, I can delete it from the message, but it stays
in the drop down menu. I cannot find a way to highlight the name in the
dropdown menu and have it stay there so I can press the delete button to
remove it.

There must be something simple I am missing. I have tryed the left and
right mouse keys without success also.

Also, tools, options does not seem to provide a means to capture addresses
to my address book.

Thanks

Forgot to mention that you navigate to the address in the dropdown list with
the arrow keys.

It will work. You must use the arrow keys to navigate to the incorrect
address and then press Delete.
